It's been several weeks since my last post, but life is slowly returning to (a new kind of) normal. My newest photography assistant, Baby Harrison, arrived in June and he has been an amazingly mellow and sweet new addition to our family. Here's a little picture of him enjoying his sheepskin rug from New Zealand.
He was 8 days old when this photo was taken, and it's a good reminder that newborn sessions should be booked before a bambino makes their entrance into the world. Friends and family can purchase gift certificates as a baby shower gift and then the new parents don't have to worry about anything but loving on their new baby. The cute baby photos that are so popular right now are usually taken within the first 10 days because babies are so sleepy at that age and they're much easier to pose.
On a completely different note, the company that I run my website through has just unveiled some exciting new changes and I have to upgrade my website. The new designs are gorgeous, but I have to sit through webinars and tutorials, so bare with me while I figure it out. The blog and my logo are all getting an upgrade too, so there are exciting new changes ahead. I just have to find the time to learn all of this new software!
I had decided to take a month off when Harrison was born, but my lovely Mum was here from New Zealand to help me out, so it was hard to pass up any opportunities. I found myself going out on my first shoot when Harrison was 2 weeks old, so that will be my next blog post.
I'm off to tend to a crying a baby now!

Bowers Family Photos in Silverthorne, Colorado
The Bowers (all 7 of them!) were driving up from the front range and we were all set to meet in Frisco. I was coming from Vail and it was blue skies and sunshine in Eagle County. By the time I hit Copper though, things weren't looking so great. After a few phone calls, we met in Frisco and watched as the snow and rain came in waves. The girls all had cute outfits to wear and our first location was simply too wet and muddy, so we headed for location number 2, which was the river front running through the Outlets. Although this location was dry, the scenery wasn't so great. Location number 3 turned out to be just perfect though. We found a spot with no crowds, 2 bridges and access to the stream. The weather calmed down and suddenly everything fell into place! I'll definitely be keeping this spot on my list of great locations in Summit County.
Here are some of the photos from our little adventure.

Family Portraits in Vail with Lauren and Lindsay. Through the Lens Series, Entry 16
I'm shooting my first wedding for the summer this afternoon, so I wanted to get some more photos up on the blog before I get swamped down with editing this week. As I mentioned in my last post, we just had Maxwell's first birthday, and he was lucky enough to have his grandparents and cousins fly halfway across the country to help him celebrate. I had planned on taking some photos of the girls while they were here, but the weather wasn't necessarily on our side. During their stay, we had 2 days of snowfall and rain, while the rest of the country seemed to be at least in the high 80s. We finally had a short window to take some photos on their last night in town, so we took a couple in Eagle Vail and then we headed down valley to Moe's in Eagle for dinner. We had about 5 minutes to snap a few in a small enclosure outside Russell's office before we were called inside for dinner.
I mentioned in an earlier post that I had purchased a few sets of actions from the Florabella Collection. These actions are gorgeous and so much fun to play with, but they don't always lend themselves well to studio photography or male subjects. In other words, they're very girly and fun to use on outdoor shoots, so these photos of the girls were the perfect opportunity for me to play around with them.
I want to say a big thank you to Lauren and Lindsay for being so cruisy and letting me take their photos in such a short amount of time! Here are a few of the photos.

Stacey at The Family Room Co. in Edwards. Through the Lens Series - Entry 5
Stacey wanted her office to feel as though you were walking into your own living room and that's exactly how it feels when you step into her studio style space in Edwards, known as The Family Room.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Stacey offers a number of different services that fall under the psychotherapy umbrella, including assistance with mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence. Perhaps most fascinating of all, she is also a hypnotherapist. She has some fascinating anecdotes about
self-hypnosis that will blow your mind! It's amazing what the human brain is capable of.
For more information, please go to the Family Room's Website or stop by at the office, located above Wags and Whiskers in Edwards, CO.

Family Portraits in Vail with Kelly, Michael and Stan.
Thanksgiving's a great time to take some pictures for your annual Christmas card, but I have to be careful that I don't post pictures too early in case I spoil any Christmas card surprises. Now that we're past Christmas, I can post these lovely pics of Kelly, Michael and Stanley. Stanley's a Bassador - that's half Basset Hound, half Lab and 100% the love of his parent's lives. Look at that face!
Everybody keeps commenting on how good Kelly's hair looks in these photos. My photography skills can take no credit for that. That's just Kelly's fabulous hair!
There's 2 days left for the year and a better blogging record is on the list of goals for 2012, and maybe a couple of personal photography projects too. More to come on that...
On the SEO front, Google has wiped all of my reviews, so I'm waiting to hear back from them as to why that happened. My Google Maps placement is still the same, and my web rank has moved up 4 pages. The countdown's on!

Studio Portraits in Edwards, Colorado with Declan
One more quick sneak peak from from another family session this weekend with sweet baby Declan. Talk about multi-tasking. Decs managed to squeeze in baby male modelling, playing host to a gaggle of other babies in his house for the afternoon and a quick nap! He's a star :)

Malcolm Farley Paintings at KKVM The Mile in Minturn
After a month's hiatus, it's fitting that my first post is right from where I left off at 104.7 The Mile in Minturn. The station is looking a lot more colorful these days with these beautiful new paintings from Master's Gallery by Malcolm Farley. I'd highly recommend stopping by to see these beauties in person! Terra Bistro played host to a special dinner as part of Vail Restaurant Month with acclaimed chef and author Martha Rose Shulman on Saturday night. The theme of the evening was "Recipes for a Healthy Thanksgiving Dinner". Guests were brought each of the 5 courses to dine on as Martha prepared the same dishes in front of them. Vail Restaurant Month
We're into week 2 of Vail Restaurant Month, and as the official photographer, I'm being kept on my toes with lots of exciting events. I personally have been complaining/freaked out by a lot of the tomatoes at the supermarkets here in Vail, (think tasteless, waxy and mealy) so the Tomatoes, Tomatoes, Tomatoes event at Sweet Basil was super interesting. Here's one of my pix from the event that made it into the Daily, plus a couple of extras.

Senior Photos in Vail, Colorado with Ashton in Vail Village.
I knew it was going to be a fantastic session when Ashton told me she wanted something different for her senior photos. After discussing where we should take the photos, Ashton finally came up with the idea of taking them at Solaris. We had a lot of fun getting these pics and the lighting was amazing!
Now, if you don't reside in the US, you're probably wondering what on earth Senior Photos are or questioning why I have contracted myself out to the retirement community. Senior Photos are taken at the start of your last year of high school and they are to be used in your year book. They're also a great way capturing people just before they make the transition into the crazy and exciting world that is life after high school. Does this bring back some memories?!

Candace and Zac's Maternity Session - Vail, Colorado.
I had a fantastic maternity session with Candace and Zac recently and we were able to shoot both indoors and out. They were such a cute couple and Candace was such a trooper. I had her hiking up hills, climbing on boulders in the river and trapsing through meadows. I think the results were worth it!

Sweet Baby Evan. Eagle Vail, Colorado.
We had such a fun session the other day with Eagle Vail's newest handsome little face, Baby Evan! He was such an angel to shoot. The basket shot is a particular favorite and it was group effort getting there. Big thanks to Mama Cortni for helping me to get the shot!

Jessie and Brian's Wedding. Vail Chapel and Donovan Pavilion. Vail, Colorado.
I've never had a chance to shoot a wedding in the Vail Chapel, so I was super ex...cited to shoot Jessie and Brian's Wedding there a few weeks ago. This was such a fun wedding to shoot, with lots of Vail locals in attendance. If you're wondering about the dance photo, I can sum it up with one word...Journey!

Shannon and Jason's Wedding. Beaver Creek, Colorado.
Somehow I always end up shooting wedding's in Vail, so it's always a nice change to get to shoot a wedding in Beaver Creek. Shannon and Jason were married on the lawn outside The Osprey a couple of weeks ago, on what seemed to be the last Saturday of Summer. It was such a beautiful day and their timing couldn't have been better, because we'll definitely be seeing some snow here before we know it. Congratulations Shannon and Jason!
