Haley's Maternity Photos in Edwards, Colorado. Through the Lens Series, Entry 37.

It's a been a few weeks since my last blog post, but I have plenty to post about.  I've been really busy with lots of photo shoots for christmas cards, so there will be more to come on those shortly.  I have a 50 photo display up in the Avon library (which took some time to get together with a lot of help Russ) and I'll post some photos of that soon too.  In the mean time, I'm going to go back a few weeks and post some photos from a maternity photo shoot that I did in Edwards for Haley and Mike.

To get the maximum effect from a maternity shoot, you don't want to do the photos any earlier than 36 weeks.  I've done a couple of sessions before that, but 36 weeks seems to be the general rule of thumb.  Haley was right at 36 weeks when we took the photos.  These were taken right around Thanksgiving and we didn't really  have much snow at the time, but we found a nice patch of snow outside Riverwalk and we took the rest of the photos around the Riverwalk area.

I loved the red top that Haley chose to wear.  It looked great against the late fall, early winter colors.  As I've mentioned before, I always love it when husbands take part in the session and Mike did a fantastic job helping Haley through the snow.

Here are a few of my faves from the session.

I love the lighting on this shot.

The Levy's 20th Wedding Anniversary in East Vail. Through the Lens Series - Entry 12

The Levy's had plenty to celebrate on their recent trip to Vail.  Stef and Jay were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary and it was the 10th year that these 3 wonderful families have vacationed together.  Stef had coordinated everyone to perform a well rehearsed dance number to surprise Jay when he arrived home from a day on the slopes.  I had to hide in the pantry while everything was being set up, and as the music started I had to jump out of the pantry and capture everyone's slick dance moves as they came down the stairs. With tuxedo and bridesmaids t-shirts on, everyone made their grand entrance and then Jay was whisked away by the dancing crowd and onto the back patio where an elaborately made ice sculpture was waiting.

The 3 mother's met when their kids started going to daycare together in Texas.  Those 3 babies are 16 years old now!  Each set of parents have been married for approximately 20 years, so it was fun to take photos of all of them holding their wedding photos, outside in the snow.

This was such a fun event and the kids were unbelievably polite and sweet.  Here are a few photos from the day.  Happy Anniversary Stef and Jay!

Moe's Original BBQ Boulder, CO. Through the Lens Series - Entry 7

Have you ever heard someboday utter the sentence "I'd love to open a restaurant one day"?  For a lot of people, the idea of opening a restaurant is a highly romanticized daydream that consists of eating good food with friends and customers and the rest will take care of itself.  In reality, opening a restaurant has to be one the hardest things you could possibly do.  If you think it only involves a little business know-how and some knowledge in the kitchen, you better think again.  If you don't know your way around a tool box, then you might be in trouble.

My hubby is part of the Moe's Original BBQ family and the newest Moe's Original just opened in Boulder, CO.  Here are some pictures of how things were looking about 30 minutes before they opened the doors to the public.  The new location is at 675 30th Street in Boulder.  Make sure you go in and check it out.  I highly recommend the Shrimp Moe Boy.  For more info, go to http://moesoriginalbbq.com/

Stacey at The Family Room Co. in Edwards. Through the Lens Series - Entry 5

Stacey wanted her office to feel as though you were walking into your own living room and that's exactly how it feels when you step into her studio style space in Edwards, known as The Family Room.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Stacey offers a number of different services that fall under the psychotherapy umbrella, including assistance with mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence.  Perhaps most fascinating of all, she is also a hypnotherapist.  She has some fascinating anecdotes about
self-hypnosis that will blow your mind!  It's amazing what the human brain is capable of.

For more information, please go to the Family Room's Website or stop by at the office, located above Wags and Whiskers in Edwards, CO.

Zach and Jason at Bachelor Gulch, Colorado. Through the Lens Series - Entry 4

When I'm not playing Mum or running around with a camera in my hand, you can find me working in marketing at The Ritz-Carlton Club in Bachelor Gulch.  We host a weekly event for our Members at our Vail Club every Wednesday night and Zach and Jason had asked if they could provide some musical accompaniment at these events.  They came and played us a few songs as a demo before they played for our Members and I decided to take a few pics.  Here they are!

Hiking in the Eagle Vail Snow with Precious Cargo. Through The Lens Series - Entry 2

I've lived in Vail for 9 years now, which means I've been lucky enough to have 8 solid seasons of free time to go snowboarding whenever I felt like it.  What happens when you have your first child at the same time as two of your friends that you've spent plenty of time cruising around the mountain with?  Well, spending a day on the hill pretty much goes out the window, but you look for alternative solutions for getting out amongst the white stuff.

Vail is having a notoriously bad season this year.  There's no way for me to sugar coat that with a frilly euphamism.  CNN has sent out their resident meteorologist to report from Breckenridge for a whole week on the sad state of Colorado ski resorts this winter, which is terrible PR for us.  We did wake up to a little miracle last Saturday though - powder, gnar, champagne, huka - SNOW!

Here's how 3 new-mothers-former-snowboarders managed to get out there and enjoy it with a winter hike.  I love Maxwell and Emma's His and Hers snowsuits.  See if you can spot my puppy in there somewhere.

For the record, I realize I'm in this photo and these pics are supposed to be of other people, but I just loved Max's little face poking out in this one.

Family Portraits in Vail with Kelly, Michael and Stan.

Thanksgiving's a great time to take some pictures for your annual Christmas card, but I have to be careful that I don't post pictures too early in case I spoil any Christmas card surprises.  Now that we're past Christmas, I can post these lovely pics of Kelly, Michael and Stanley.  Stanley's a Bassador - that's half Basset Hound, half Lab and 100% the love of his parent's lives.  Look at that face!

Everybody keeps commenting on how good Kelly's hair looks in these photos.  My photography skills can take no credit for that.  That's just Kelly's fabulous hair!

There's 2 days left for the year and a better blogging record is on the list of goals for 2012, and maybe a couple of personal photography projects too.  More to come on that...

On the SEO front, Google has wiped all of my reviews, so I'm waiting to hear back from them as to why that happened.  My Google Maps placement is still the same, and my web rank has moved up 4 pages.  The countdown's on!

The Carpenter Family

Are you wondering where 2011 went?  I can't believe that it's Thanksgiving this week and Christmas is just around the corner.  Now's the perfect time to get your pictures done for holiday cards.  Here's a sneak peak of a session I did last night at Cordillera with the Carpenter family.  It's hard to tell that it was freezing by looking at the photos, but they were troopers.  Check out that sunset!

Jessica's Maternity Session. Gypsum, Colorado.

This photo session is long past overdue to be posted, but sometimes life can get a little hectic with a little one. I had the good fortune of working with Jessica on numerous events at The Ritz-Carlton Club, Vail and we were both due with o...ur first babies at the same time. We'd host events once a week and it was always a good chance to catch up on each other's pregnancies. Baby Hank has moved on from the mountains and is now living it up on the beach!
