Vail Family Photographer - The Rader Family at The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, Colorado

I don't know if it their way of escaping the July heat, but for some reason, I met a lot of people last month who were visiting from Texas.  The Rader Family were no exception.  We had spoken prior to their session about taking some fun photos in the park with some of the children's favorite toys.  Of course, the kids wanted nothing to do with their toys when it came time to taking their photos, so we decided to head to the gardens to get some candid shots instead.  Luckily it was a good adventure and the kids were entertained by the various waterfalls, fountains and flowers.  They were all so well behaved and so easy to shoot!  I particularly like some of the more candid moments that we captured.  Here are a few shots from our fun afternoon.

PS:  Please note that my logo isn't everywhere like last time!  I'm slowly getting the hang of this new stuff :)

Maternity Photos in Avon, CO with Desiree and Lucas. Through the Lens Series - Entry 6

This was my first maternity shoot for 2012 and I was so excited to be able to capture such a beautiful moment in time for this amazing couple.  Desiree is a fellow photographer, so between the 2 of us, we had a ton of ideas to play around with different backdrops and props.   We were really lucky to have amazing natural light that day, which I always prefer because it saves me from lugging a big lighting rig around. 

You just need to take one look at these photos to see who the real scene stealer was.  In the Vail Valley, our dogs ARE our babies.  Clearly Miss Maddie is excited to meet the new addition to her household and it only took a few treats and lots of loving to get her to get in on the photos.  Isn't she adorable?!

Vicki's Maternity Session - Vail, CO.

We didn't have a whole lot of shooting time for Vicki's maternity session, but we managed to get a lot of great shots in the short time that we did have.  I had 2 great factors in the situation - firstly, she was really flexible and didn't mind standing out in the cold and secondly, she's really photogenic!  Here's a few of my favorite shots.

Liz's Maternity Photos - Eagle Vail, CO.

I met Liz pretty much as soon as I landed in America, so she is an extremely special friend to me.  Her husband Rob is also a very dear friend, so I ws really excited to be able to capture the next phase for them - pregnancy!  Our indoor shots went off without a hitch, but the outdoor shots on the Eagle Vail Golf Course lead to some post-holing in the snow.  Thanks for being so game Liz and I hope you didn't have wet socks for the rest of the day!  Here's a few samples from the shoot.

Kim's Maternity Session - Gypsum, CO.

Kim is due with her first child in March, and she was able to model for me on the same day as Anne.  Kim's dog Rocky decided to get in on the action as well and he made a very handsome addition to some of our studio photos.  My dog Beans has been in love with Rocky for a couple of years now, so I have a big ol' soft spot for him and he's going to be great protector and friend for Baby Hood once he/she arrives.  Thanks for being such a willing model Kim!

Anne's Maternity Session - Gypsum, CO

Welcome to the new White Starfish Photography blog!  I'm excited to be able to write about each new photography adventure as it unfolds and I'm going to start with my latest project, which was an amazing maternity session for my friend Anne.  Anne is due with her first child in February, so I needed to get this session done before it was too late! 

Anne was a fabulous model and we all can't wait to meet her little one.
